Back in the day those three genres dominated my daily gaming. Online competition wasn't even considered back then so thefocus on the single player experience was high.
Mechwarrior and Mechcommander games were BIG time killers for me. I loved outfitting a mech, setting up a lance (platoon), and going after an objective. Unfortunately all of the MW4 expansions didn't work on my PC. Hopefully they bring MW5 to life soon and finish it. Heard they're working on it again.
As for Flight combat sims, its like that genre died. Wingcommander, X-Wing, and the like were dogfighting dreams for me. Loved playing all of the X-wing or Tie fighter missions over and over to test my skill.
And wrestling...i don't think I've found a good wrestling game since WCW/NWO Revenge on the N64. Still the greatest one ever. Complex but still easy enough to be competitive. Create a wrestler was deep and easy to do. (now a days it takes hours to finish a re-creation of an old legend and on top of that you can't use him in most modes in the game). Can't wait for that highly rated wrestling game to come around and bring fans back to wrestling.
